Although not as high as for other industries, pharmaceuticals are vulnerable to counterfeiting and are amongst the topmost counterfeited products. Indeed, according to the OECD/EUIPO (2019) study, the value of global trade in counterfeit pharmaceuticals was up to USD 4.4 billion in 2016.
